Have you ever given up on something too soon only to find out if you had stuck with it just a little bit more, you would see the desired result? Today we talk about how sometimes we might be missing an encounter with Jesus because we gave up too soon or “left too early”.

Why is it so hard for people in power to be humble? We love it when our side flaunts their power and ability. We hate it when it’s the “other” side. This week we see a better way modeled by Jesus. All the power and authority with one little change that makes all the difference.

In all our relationships we have give and take. A problem arises when we want more than we can give in return. So what do we do with a relationship with Jesus where we have received more than we can ever repay? This week we talk about the difference between what Jesus provides and who Jesus is.

On this first Sunday in Lent we dig deep into Isaiah 58 and talk about what true fasting according to God looks like. We can’t have a right relationship with God without having right relationships with others and society. How is God inviting you to fast in a way that loves your neighbors this Lent?

It is easy to have a misconception because we are Christians, life will be easy. The truth is, in this world, we will have trouble. This week, we talk about how to cope with the inevitable challenges we will have along our journey to be closer to Jesus.

Can we talk? How many times have we said that in our relationships that we value so much? Our Heavenly Father has the same heart for all of us, He so very much wants to talk with you. We just need to have the willingness to pause and listen to his still small voice.

Who do you follow on social media? It could be an athlete, political player, influencer or comedian. When we follow someone we have certain expectations based on their identity. This week we look at the Jesus we follow. Is he a teacher, good person, prophet or something else? How we view Jesus determines what kind of influence he has on our lives.

Growing closer to Jesus means giving him access and authority over every part of our lives. This week we talk about one of the areas in our life that we talk about, obsess over, worry about, and sometimes fear. We hate talking about it but we love getting it. Money.

Ever played tug-o-war? It’s best to have strong people on your team. You can pull as hard as you want but if you are by yourself you are going to lose. Maybe you have been taught that in your life with God you had to do it all yourself. Learn more, try harder, be bold and don’t give up. It sounds good. But what if God isn’t asking you to do that? What if every part of moving closer to Jesus involves other people? What if you are just responsible for a corner of the Kingdom of God.

We all get stuck. Stuck in our relationships, our finances, our thought process or even an addiction. Sometimes it gets hard to visualize what healing even looks like. This week we talk about the beginning of getting unstuck. Often it’s just getting one step closer to Jesus.

How is Jesus’ baptism good news for us too? Through Jesus we are called God’s beloved sons and daughters and this changed everything.

Poverty, sickness, division and pandemics. Seems overwhelming? It is. But what if God is not asking you to fix it? What if He is only asking you to be faithful in your context? Good news! It’s easier than you think to change the world.

We all want peace. Peace in relationships, in our finances, and in all areas of life. At the end of the day, we want to be able to do what we want when we want. Fortunately, God’s kingdom is a kingdom of peace. Unfortunately, the definition of peace is a little different.

When you have a big announcement what do you do? Whether it’s FaceBook, direct mail or whatever, you make sure the most important people get the message. God uses a different method.

There are nearly 200 billion opinions generated on social media every year. If we are trying to keep up with it all, it is nothing short of exhausting. Joseph didn’t let the opinions of others affect how the Holy Spirit spoke to him about his calling. This week we talk about not needing to meet the expectations of others, but the aspirations of our Heavenly Father.

We all hate to be interrupted during a football game or binge watching your favorite show. But what if it’s something more important? Maybe the loss of a loved one, or an unexpected change of events. This week we talk about how to reframe interruptions as invitations to see God in unique ways.
