As we move into a new year it is imperative that we lay hold of fresh vision from the Lord as well as fresh faith to believe Him for more. God is always calling us forward but before He moves us on He will renew our faith in Him and His promises so that we say yes to what is next. The last season will often highjack the next one if we don’t renew our faith in God which is why we need to take inventory, process well, and truly press in so that we don’t stay behind. We must be aware that discouragement and disappointment may have done more to our faith than we know and it could be holding us back right now. Where that is the case, Psalm 77 gives us a roadmap for stepping into new faith so that we can believe God for more knowing that He is the redeemer of our past and gives us victory over our pain.

In the Bible, the word hope means to have a trustful expectation in the person and promises of God.  Worldly hope is quite different and often refers to the feeling that what we desire will happen.  I think it’s important in this season to ensure that our hope is properly placed on God so that our faith does not collapse.  As we rightly place our hope in Him, we will find that our ministry becomes bringing His hope to the hopeless so that they know what we know and have what we have – which is Him! 

In our passage today, we will read the message that was given to the church at Pergamum. The church in this city had been faithful to the person and message of Jesus Christ even in the face of martyrdom. However, the influence of this pagan city and the spread of false teaching had introduced all kinds of compromise. Jesus makes it very clear – in order to remain faithful to Him, we must repent and allow no room for compromise in our lives.

In our passage today, we will read the message that was given to the church at Smyrna. This was one of only two churches that did not receive a complaint or correction from the Lord Jesus. The church at Smyrna experienced very serious persecution which certainly took a toll on them in every way, but we will see how Jesus called them to continue their faithfulness to Him despite what may come against them. It is their faithfulness under pressure that we admire and learn from today that you and I may be faithful to the end regardless of our surrounding circumstances – He is worthy!

The book of Revelation begins with the apostle John seeing a vision of the glorified Christ that was so powerful he could not remain standing.  Through this vision, Jesus gave John a message for the seven prominent churches of Asia Minor that he had a personal and pastoral relationship with. Jesus had something specific to say to each of the seven churches in addition to the unfolding future events that would be true for all of them.  In our passage today, we will read the message that was given to the church at Ephesus.  This was a powerful church that had many things right while at the same time they had something deeply wrong.  They had lost their first love which is a reference to their clearest devotion to Christ which will always manifest through our love for others.  As we read the words of Jesus to His church, I pray that we will hear and heed the same message in our own lives as well.

In our world we need to exchange our version of Jesus for a true and transformational vision of Jesus. That is the potential of this passage and book that sits before us today. Jesus encountered John so that he would write a message to the seven churches of Asia Minor. Jesus is still standing in the midst of His church with a lot to say and He calls us to both see Him and hear Him. What happens when we get our eyes off of everything else and focus on Jesus and what He is saying? That is what we are about to learn today as we dive deep into chapter one of the book of Revelation.

In our text today, we will see that before Jesus shows us the plan He desires to remind us of who He is and so He pulls back the curtain to reveal His glory and power as we trust Him for the unfolding future.

Have you ever been confronted about how different you are from God? Have you ever been angry with Him? Today, Pastor Ben concludes his series in the book of “Jonah” with a message entitled “Running from the Heart of God.” In it, he’ll not only show how God is bringing a message the city of Nineveh, but He’s bringing the same message to His prophet Jonah. It’s a message for many of us, the ones who are running away from God. 

False prophets will intentionally lie by telling people what they want to hear in order to gain favor or even a following of others.   -  The fundamental issue regarding false prophets is that they are not Christians, and therefore do not have the Holy Spirit living inside them. 

Have you ever felt like you’re beyond hope due to a past failure in your life? Well, you’re not alone! Today’s message, “A Message and a Messenger”, is a great lesson on how God takes our weaknesses and failures and actually makes them part of His message of hope and deliverance for others! All it takes is a few good, humble choices.

We don’t want to waste anything. Isn’t that an interesting way to look at life, especially when life isn’t going as we expected? In today’s fourth message from his Jonah series, Pastor Ben looks at how God uses difficult situations in our lives to make us more like Jesus. He calls his message, “Refinement in Confinement.” If you’re feeling a bit confined these days, this is a great word for you!

It’s not too late. That’s the name of the next message in Pastor Ben’s series in the book of Jonah. It’s not to late for what? For us to turn away from things that keep us from God and turn towards Him! It’s a great reminder that God’s always ready to pour His mercy upon us and everyone, as we turn our hearts towards Him.
