We are slowly walking through the book of Mark with the sincere hope that we will continue the mission and ministry of Jesus in our world today. The Gospel of Mark gives us a window into the life and teachings of Jesus which will strengthen and sustain us as we seek to obey the Lord in all that we say and do. Today, we are studying a passage where Jesus invited four men to be His first disciples. Through this text, we can learn more about the invitation of discipleship and how that specifically applies to our lives today. 

Three applicational points that we can extrapolate from our text today: 1. We must IDENTIFY with the PERSON of Jesus 2. We must RECEIVE the POWER of Jesus 3. We must RECOGNIZE the PATH of Jesus

Today we begin a study through the book of Mark called “On Mission With Jesus.” While the Gospel of Mark is the shortest account of the life and ministry of Jesus, we know that it is no less important than Matthew, Luke or John. I like to think of Mark as the journalist account because he brings us into many important moments from a simplified perspective, which probably reflects how most of us encounter life as well. Buckle up as we move rather quickly from one encounter to another with Mark as our guide. 

On Fathers Day 2021, Pastor Ben Dixon shares a message about the power of a father's blessing in the life of his family. Intentional words, passionate prayers, consistent presence, and a Godly example can release a blessing like none other.

We have been talking lately about the issue of spiritual warfare and we have identified that we have three primary enemies as we engage the battles that are before us. Those enemies are “The Devil/Demonic Power,” “The World System,” and “The Flesh.” We have already discussed two of these enemies so today we will focus on the third which is “The Flesh.”

As we celebrate Mother’s Day we recognize that God is the one who actually calls us to honor our mothers. In Exodus 20:12 we read, “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you.” This happens to be the only commandment with a promise which means that God places a very high priority on honoring our parents. Nobody would dispute that mothers are worthy of honor, but today we are going to discuss some of the why behind our honor. We begin by saying thank you to all of you who are mothers and we pray that you are refreshed and encouraged on this special day!

As we follow Jesus faithfully, we find that there is very real opposition to our personal growth and Gospel advancement. Spiritual warfare is a part of our lives, but God has not left us to figure things out on our own. He has given us His Word which enables us to overcome opposition by attaching our faith to the truth and destroy lies in our own lives and those around us. In our teaching today we will learn how to use the weapon of God’s Word to overcome every enemy and emerge as overcomers in Jesus’ name.

Whether we realize this or not, every Christian is engaged in spiritual warfare on some level. There is more going on behind the scenes and it is vital for us to have a clear understanding and sharp discernment about the nature and activity of our enemy. Our goal today in this message is not to focus on the enemy but rather to expose him and clarify our posture in order to remain strong in the Lord.

In this powerful gospel message Pastor Ben Dixon preaches the proof of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because Jesus rose from the dead we have hope; life after death, fuel for our faith, and the power of sin broken.

We have discussed what the church is and now we are looking at what the church does – and specifically what we do here at NWC. This week our focus is on how we must be a church that EQUIPS.

Today we want to discuss a statement that Jesus made concerning His people who represent Him and His Father which was, “My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations.” In a sense, this is an expression of Jesus’ mission in the world today that is carried out by the church. We are a church that REACHES UP to God in prayer because we know that God hears us and answers us according to His will. If we are to carry out the mission of Jesus effectively then we must continue to grow as a house of prayer.

The Bible is clear that the church of Jesus Christ is not some invention of man but rather it is the design of God. Therefore, the church is essential in every season and every generation in order for the purposes of God to be fulfilled. We must be reminded of who we are and what we are called to do together as God’s people or we will run the risk of drifting when we are needed the most. As we study our passage today, we will freshly discover what the church is and what the church does so that we can all move together and bring glory to King Jesus.

The book of Revelation begins with the apostle John seeing a vision of the glorified Christ that was so powerful he could not remain standing. Through this vision, Jesus gave John a message for the seven prominent churches of Asia Minor that he had a pastoral relationship with. Jesus had something specific to say to each of the seven churches in addition to the unfolding future events that would be true for all of them. In our passage today, we will read the message that was given to the church at Laodicea. As you will see, the church in this city had slowly but surely become casual in their relationship with God and obedience to His Word. In light of this, Jesus highlights their true spiritual condition and gives them a serious rebuke with the hope that they might once again become zealous Christians that produce fruit that reveals and glorifies Jesus.

Through this vision, Jesus gave John a message for the seven prominent churches of Asia Minor that he had a pastoral relationship with. Jesus had something specific to say to each of the seven churches in addition to the unfolding future events that would be true for all of them. In our passage today, we will read the message that was given to the church at Philadelphia. As you will see, the church was small and seemingly weak but we know that in our weakness the power of Christ can be revealed. This lesson shows us that our impact in this world is not based on our numbers, gifts, or influence but rather it is based on our dependence upon the One who has all power over all things!
