A new member of our family. A young talent who has been steadily building a reputation for crisp beats and slick productions over the last few years, is British producer Jordan Peak. Jordan’s work has graced labels such as One Records, Air London, Saved and Robsoul among others and he is now a label owner himself after launching his own imprint, named Rogue Society, recently. After starting out with a deeper house sound, Jordan has slowly been shifting towards a harder, more techno-influenced style recently and it’s this tougher sound that is prevalent on his debut EP “Late One Thursday Night” for Bass Culture. Jordan Peak’s arrival on Bass Culture has been a long time coming, but it was worth the wait. Here is a mix that will captivate and entertain in equal measure. Enjoy! When Joel Alter had been confirmed for a Bass Culture Records night at D’julz beloved Rex Club in Paris with Dan Curtin in April 2012, we were unaware that he was planning to deliver a full live performance instead of the expected dj set, a live act so good that we’ve asked Joel to give us the recording so we can post it here as the new Bass Culture Records podcast. Alfredo Caforio and Gianni Sabato came together with equal, yet different musical ideas, to form Rush?. What began as fun sessions and club nights throughout Italy, eventually saw the pair developing their own sound and before long music. They describe their work as, “full of atmospheric detail, sometimes a little abstract and sometimes more narrative, but always with deep club-based grooves”. The fact that, after more than twenty years in the industry, Dan Curtin‘s music is as innovative and vital as ever before is testament to the skills and strengths of the man himself and the high regard in which his music is held. With over 70 singles, 9 albums and a discography that dates back to first releases for Detroit’s 33RPM in 1992, the Cleveland born producer can proudly wear the affectionate title of a ‘veteran’ of the music scene. Yet whilst the title refers to time past, its Dan’s ability stay firmly in the present that sees him remain one of the most influential producers of today and a clearly inspired dj, as you can see with this podcast for Bass Culture Records. Dj Qu, the man behind the remixes of Joel Alter‘s “Rules Of Love” on Bass Culture, offered us this house music mix for the Bass Culture podcast series. Dj Qu is considered as part of a group of New York house music dj/producers that contributed to the renaissance of the genre in the Big Apple, among Jus-Ed, Levon Vincent, Fred P and the like… making sense considering that Bass Culture boss D’julz had been inspired by the New York scene while living there when he started djing back in the nineties… Subscribe on iTunes / RSS / Newsletter

This is how the story goes. Late 2010, Argentinian dj/producer Franco Cinelli made good use of Cassius’ “Sound Of Violence” celebrated vocals for an ethereal piece of underground house. He gave the track to a few of his friends, including Esperanza label boss Kasper, D’julz – to whom he just gaved his Planet Dub EP for a Bass Culture release – and Ricardo Villalobos. The later loved the track so much that it becomed one of the landmarks of his recent sets. In the meantime, the Cassius people heard that several Sound Of Violence edits were doing the rounds and decided to work on a remix EP to be released on their own Cassius Records imprint. It was only a matter of time before D’julz introduced Franco to Cassius so they can include his edit in their release. “Cassius – Sound Of Violence (Franco Cinelli remix)” had been released last week and reached top 5 sales on Beatport. Italian-born and Berlin-based Alex Picone’s passion for deep analogue-sounding grooves is all consuming so it’s no suprise that D’julz invites him for the second time on his label Bass Culture to release a EP. As a trained Violinist and composer for the Swedish National Theatre, Joel’s first steps into the world of electronic composition came with an exotic mixture of classical influence and modern inspiration, from acts such as Depeche Mode,Jean-Michel Jarre and Front 242. A key figure on the Swedish music scene since 1995, Joel has always seen his music as stemming from the meeting of a variety of artforms. His first steps onto the international circuit came with the signing of material to Int. DeeJay Gigolo and Minus. Since then, he has developed a strong relationship with Hamburg label, Room With A View, featuring on seven releases since early 2009, as well as releasing on Berlin based label Sweatshop. It was January’s ‘Preaching To The Choir’ on Room With A View,  a track that became a firm favourite with D’Julz, and included on his Rex Club compilation, that lead to a request for an EP for Bass Culture. The ‘Silence Is Golden’ EP is a broad, four track selection, showcasing the sounds and style of the Swede.
