In this episode of UIndy’s Potluck Podcast, where we host conversations about the arts, ENGLISH 478 students Chelsea Keen, Savannah Harris, McKenna Tetrick, and Olivia Williams interview poet Emily Skaja, a guest of the Kellogg Writers Series, which is a series that brings writers of distinction to the University of Indianapolis campus for classroom discussions and free public readings. Special thanks to Music Technology major Oliver Valle for editing this episode’s audio. Emily Skaja’s first book, Brute, won the 2019 Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets. She is the Poetry Co-Editor of Southern Indiana Review. Her poems have been published in Best New Poets, Blackbird, Crazyhorse, and others. She is the winner of the Gulf Coast Poetry Prize, an Academy of American Poets College Prize, and a 2019-2020 Literature Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.
