Despite playing with City for 90+ minutes, losing Danny Ings in the first half, and pinning City back for portions of the match, the visitors left the south coast with all 3 points and Saints saw themselves fall to 7th in the table by the time the week’s matches concluded. There is a balance between performances and points. Saints won ugly against Brighton, dispatched Sheffield United, let Arsenal off the hook, and went at City with everything Ralph would have expected. The result just didn’t come off.
