Contemporary media as well as the leadership of the Democrat Party have become incredibly aggressive now that the party controls all levels of the federal government.  There is apparently a conscious decision to simply use that newly grasped authority to 'declare as law' those measures which have previously failed. The expectation is that an accommodating media will simply echo the 'establishment of these precious new rights' and demand acquiescence.
