In my first year of college I took an advanced Algebra class...not sure what I was thinking. By the end of that semester I had a passing grade, but it was nothing to brag about. My professor pulled me aside and suggested that before I go to the advanced Geometry class that I re-take the advanced Algebra class. Well, I didn't want to hear that; it hit my pride, it was a message that was contrary to what I wanted to be doing...but for which I was not prepared. I proceeded in the next semester with the advanced Geometry class and as you would expect, I did not do well.
