Eurofruit editor Mike Knowles speaks to Stephan Strauss, general manager of Africa’s largest stonefruit orchard Sandrivier Estate, where South African exporter Le Roux Group produces around 500,000 cartons of plums every year for sale in export markets such as Europe. New varieties including Angeleno, a dark red-purple fruit first developed in Italy, are helping the company keep ahead of the curve as far as retail demand and consumer preferences are concerned.
