Megan Young has always been fascinated by different cultures. As the only child of a single mom growing up in Scottsdale, Arizona finding culture was not easy task. Through life's ups and downs including living through her mom's struggle with addiction and her mom's passing from the disease, Megan continued to find ways to march forward. She graduated college with a degree in Political Science, and continued to nurture her interest in culture and diversity. Megan was also in High School when the events of 9/11 unfolded. The changing world, the war in Iraq coupled with her enthusiasm and curiosity about the greater world led her to working with international populations right in Arizona. So, Megan found a way to meet and greet the world and learn about different customs and cultures right in her backyard. Megan will share her perspective on multi-culturalism, immigration and diversity. This story is about not letting fear and uncertainty get in the way of progress and personal perseverance.
