Sinopsis
This is Music and Poetry episode 9 - Ergodontics. "Ergodontics" is a word coined by Don Hutchinson. The notion of "Ergodontic work" came about as an attempt in trying to describe work that a person does with genuine interest. "Ergo" relates to the production and the relation of the person to the work. "Dontic," which means gifts, seemed to compose the qualities of respect for the work, care, knowledge, interest, and responsibility. As workers, we often proceed with interest, but with no clear idea of what we are doing, how to do it, or why. A work process that is not interesting may include systematic distortions that have gained legitimacy. But Ergodontic work, or work that has the workers genuinely interested in the process, seems to be the goal for us all - not only from the management/leadership side of the equation, but also from the prospective of the worker. I hope you enjoy the poem and the music! -SH
