David's trust was not in himself. He didn’t sleep well because he had the situation under control, but because His Protector did. Salvation belongs to the Lord, but it’s a blessing that He gives to His people. We are the recipients of this mercy, grace, and love, but it’s all about what the Lord has done. David recognized and celebrated the fact that God alone is the one who saves.
