Since they are seriously over-represented in our justice system, they are among the poorest of the poor in Canada, and the majority of Canadians are frustrated with the native population as a whole ("look, another drunk native on the corner"), that population seems to fit with the poor/imprisoned/lepers that Jesus said we need to reach out and take care of.
