Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the LORD drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left (Exod 14:21-22). This was what happened when the people of Israel were reborn by going through water. The "strong east wind" was the Holy Spirit—the power of new creation. It was the spirit of God who was hovering over the waters, the deep, and his power was released when God said, "Let there be light." The same Holy Spirit was with the people of Israel, and he guided them as they traveled in the wilderness, which was a proof that they were heirs of God. And it was this spirit who led those of the second generation into the Promised Land. Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest.
