Sinopsis

In today's episode Nicky P & Lizzie begin by hopping into the wayback machine and digging into the Roggers And Hammerstein song I Enjoy Being A Girl from the Flower Drum Song soundtrack. What are the cultural implications of a song that celebrates an appreciation for stereotypically American gender roles. How do those factor into a voluntary society? Is Lizzie actually leading the conversation? In “I Heard This Happened” we switch roles as Nicky P brings the girl-pop and Lizzie brings the post-hardcore to the table. Nicks bandcamp choice this week is Future Me Hates Me by The Beths out of New Zealand. An infectious pop-rock disc ready to carry summer well into September. The sweet vocals are juxtaposed against fuzzy buzzy guitars and lush washes of harmonies. Lizzie on the other hand brings California Cousins’ album Distant Relatives into the booth. The group hailing from Rochester, NY is keeping the spirit of post-hardcore and emo alive well after necessary and I suppose we owe them thanks for that. This
