Bluford was a journalist, editor and publisher of the black newspaper, the Kansas City Call. Through her writings, Bluford called attention to injustices and inequalities in the Black community and among feminists, issues such as equal access to decent jobs, affordable health care and housing, education, politics and women's rights.
