Sinopsis
Welcome to Drone Law Today! In this episode, we speak with David Merrick, Director of the Center for Disaster Risk Policy (CDRP) at Florida State University. CDRP has worked with drones in disaster and emergency management for nearly three years. CDRP has deployed UAS teams to Haiti, Jamaica and Belize in support of a variety of disaster risk reduction projects. These teams have used fixed-wing and multi-rotor systems for mapping and hazard assessment. CDRP is working with the Florida Division of Emergency Management to integrate UAS operations into the State Emergency Response Team's Air Operations Branch as well as the State Fire Marshall's office to develop methodology for utilizing UAS in Urban Search and Rescue. You can learn more about how CDRP uses drones in emergency management at CDRP.net, and on Twitter at @CDRP_FSU. Listen in for more about this cutting-edge technology! Listen in iTunes!
