The New York Mets quest for a sweep of the Atlanta Braves was dashed behind a quiet day for the bats and a rough outing for Gregory Soto, as they fell 4-3. Despite a rally in the 9th, the Mets still are searching for their first win this season when trailing after eight innings. The 8th inning is where things went south for the Mets. Gregory Soto, who had been excellent since coming over in a trade, had his first meltdown and allowed two runs to score. Offensively, the Mets couldn't crack Bryce Elder for the second straight outing. Mark Vientos hit a home-run to put the Mets in front, but missed chances to break the game open. David Peterson started for New York and looked like typical David Peterson through the first five innings, avoiding any major trouble. Trouble was found in the 6th, however. With 1st and 2nd and two outs, Peterson walked the bases loaded and then allowed the game-tying hit.
