Sinopsis
On a night where the New York Mets offense showed plenty of fight, it was the bullpen and another blown lead that did the Mets in against the Seattle Mariners, 11-9. The Mets faced multiple deficits that they quickly erased in this, trailing 1-0, 2-1 and 4-3 early. Holding a 6-4 lead, it was set up for the Mets to get things to their bullpen and close up a win. But for the 4th straight outing, it was Ryan Helsley who coughed things up. Brooks Raley came up and gave up the lead in a tied game and then the Mariners blew the game open. A Francisco Alvarez three-run home run brought them within striking distance, but the Mets couldn't get anything done in the 9th.Sean Manaea was fine, going five innings and striking out seven but his continued resilience on just two pitches continues to make him vulnerable. It will be the MLB debut of Nolan McLean tomorrow for the Mets, as they look to get out of a stretch where they are 2-14 in their last 16 games.
