Sinopsis
The New York Mets defeated the Seattle Mariners in the Little League Classic by a final of 7-3. In doing so, the Mets not only picked up a series win but won back to back games for the first time since July 27th. Offensively, it was the baby Mets who led the charge. Francisco Alvarez got things started with an RBI double. Brett Baty and Mark Vientos tacked on a pair and the Mets were off to the races with a 3-0 lead. It was Vientos who handed down the big blow, with his three-run opposite field homer in 5th that pushed the Mets lead to 5. Clay Holmes toed the rubber for the Mets and delivered probably the best that could have been expected from Holmes this time of year. It was five innings of one run ball for the Mets starter. Perhaps this is the momentum building performance that the Mets needed to get hot down stretch, and they''ll get to put that to the test starting on Tuesday in Washington against the Nationals.
