Sinopsis
Mark Vientos his the first grand slam of his career. Ronny Mauricio tied the game in the 9th with a homer. Neither hit was enough for the Mets, as they fell to the Padres 7-6 in the opener. It was perhaps the wildest game of the Mets season. They got out to an early lead via the Mark Vientos grand slam, but Frankie Montas and Huascar Brazoban combined to give up the lead in the bottom part of the inning. Mauricio stepped up in the 9th and crushed a game tying home run, handing things off to Gregory Soto to try and force things into extras. A fielding miscue from Soto set up the Padres to walk it of via an Elias Diaz single. The Mets will look to regroup and get back in the win column with Sean Manaea on the bump.
