Sinopsis
The New York Mets defeated the Los Angeles Angels in the opener of a three-game series, 7-5. It didn't start out looking like that was going to be the case, however. A similar script was emerging for the Mets in the early stages of the game. Kodai Senga got the start for New York and struggled through three innings, allowing four runs and digging the Mets a hole. The offense was also sluggish to start the game, until Brett Baty got them on the board with a two-run home run. The Mets bullpen just kept things close, leaving the door open. They scored three in the seventh and two in the eighth to complete the comeback, and Edwin Diaz shut the door in the 9th. Frankie Montas will go tomorrow, looking to make it three in a row for New York.
