Curtis Jones was just out for a late-night stroll in Rochester when he says he came face to face with what sounded like a large, disgruntled feline. “I heard the ‘rawr’, I felt that ‘rawr.’ I knew to keep it pushing. I knew that,” Jones recounted as he clutched a baseball bat, ready to defend his neighborhood. “It was just walking, slithering, I don’t know man.” Ring doorbell video and other accounts from neighbors fueled the panic, prompting police to briefly declare a shelter-in-place but alas, no kitty was ever found.Luckily, the Seneca Park Zoo confirmed none of its mountain lions strolled off campus, and there is now an investigation into whether it was a cougar, a bobcat, or just someone’s really ambitious housecat in escape mode. Either way, Jones says he’s ready, but we’re wondering if those “Autotune the News” people are.
