David Peterson threw a six-hit, complete game shutout as the New York Mets extended their winning streak to five, defeating the Washington Nationals 5-0. Peterson is the story tonight, being absolutely brilliant for the Mets in his first career complete-game shutout. He relied on his calling card, ground-balls, to get it done. Offensively, it was another great night for the team. Pete Alonso got it start with an RBI double.
