Sinopsis
For the first time this season, the New York Mets have been swept. They looked completely outmatched, as the Tampa Bay Rays beat them 9-0. It was bad from the word go for the Mets. Griffin Canning walked five over the course of his start, and the second inning saw the Rays score three runs and it was over from there. The Mets had one opportunity to apply some pressure to this Rays team. Pete Alonso came up with the bases-loaded in the bottom of the 3rd but struck out swinging to end the Mets short attempt at a rally. The sweep comes at a tough time for the Mets, as they gear up for series against the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies. They will need to dust themselves off and bounce back in a big way this week.
