Degradation derives from the Latin degradare: de-, meaning “down,” and gradus, meaning "step." Degradation is, thus, the act of lowering something or someone to a less respectable state. When a society or civilization experiences a disintegration of normative values, when good is called evil and evil is spoken of as good, when sin is embraced but holiness is mocked and rejected that civilization is caught in moral degradation.  Is there any doubt that America is there today?
