South Carolina Governor, Mark Sanford, is the most recent in a string of politicians involved in sexual misconduct. Involved in these scandals, some politicians resign, while a few weather the storm and retain office. It is clear that those holding religious office involved in sexual misconduct should step down. But how serious is sexual misconduct to political office. Let’s take adultery for example. In most cases, there is no state or federal law forbidding adultery. So should embarrassing immorality disqualify one from a leadership role in government?
