Suicide can be viewed as a method of escape.  Escape from heartache, worry, stress or imminent death more dreadful than the suicide itself.  In the past, suicide has been relegated to those with incurable, painful and debilitating diseases and aliments.  And used by those who perceived there financial fate was one worse than death.  Or suicide was reserved for those who through their culture found suicide honorable in the wake of a failure.  And the list goes on.  No matter the reason, until recently, suicide appeared to be reserved for adults.  This has changed.  Within the last decade or so the number of teenagers committing suicide has shown a marked increase.  And recently, children, as young as 10 years old have committed suicide.  Why?  Why would a child, especially in the United States of America, kill themselves?  What are these children attempting to escape?  Is suicide actually a viable option to escape life’s challenges?
