Repentance is the Key: Jasper Texas, A House Divided

Informações:

Sinopsis

In the summer of 1998 Jasper Texas garnered national infamy when it became the site of one of the most horrific hate crimes in US history. On June 7, 1998, James Byrd, Jr. A black man was walking home when he was taken by 3 white men identified as white supremacists, brutally beaten, chained to the back of a pickup truck and dragged 3 miles resulting in his death. The subsequent trails attracted the attention of both the Ku Klux Klan and the New Black Panther Party bringing racial tensions to a boiling point. Now, well over a decade later, Jasper is once again divided along racial lines resulting from the firing of Jaspers first Black Chief of Police. And while many cry racism others insist that the media is to blame for fanning the flames of hatred and forcing Jasper to relive it’s tragic past. Join us today for another installment of “Repentance is the Key” as we examine the motives and motivations of race and politics in Jasper Texas.   We air programs on Blog Talk Radio at the following times: Sun 2:00p
