Romans: The Power & Glory of the Gospel (Part 20)Romans 9:1-2// If we read Romans 9 honestly, it is a passage that should break us. It is a passage that is mean to stretch our minds and challenge the tidy categories in which we want to organize our ideas about God. Romans 9 is a difficult passage to understand, but even more, what Romans 9 is saying is difficult for us to receive when we understand exactly what it is saying. Nevertheless, we believe with conviction that all Scripture is inspired by Holy Spirit. We believe that what God reveals is truth that stands above all truth. We believe even more that his truth sets us free, and that honestly, humbly, and determinedly wrestling with the truth of Scripture leads us to the truth of God’s unfathomable goodness. Even in the hardest parts of the Bible, we do not rest in our own wisdom or understanding - we rest in the kindness of his character, trust in the perfection of his wisdom, and worship in light of the love God displays to us in the cross of Jesus
