She was orphaned at birth as an illegitimate child of an Irish Catholic woman, re-adopted by her birth-mother’s abusive husband at age 3 and forced to stay outside all day in the backyard of the projects of her Boston home. But despite the horrors of her beginning, Dr. Dorothy’s journey led her to great achievements as a world traveler, licensed therapist and entrepreneur and pioneer in integrative medicine among other things.
