In a heavily-forested section of Wayne County between two giant man-made lakes in the eastern Ozarks lies Piedmont, with a population of approximately 1500. The region is rich in both natural beauty and lead deposits but is not known for much else. Certainly, its friendly but skeptical inhabitants were
