The Street Legacy of Larry “King Larry” Hoover. TopicTuesday episode 6. Larry Hoover was born 11/30/1950 in Jackson, MS. Larry Hoover moved to Chicago. IL when he was only 4 years old with his family. It didn’t take King Larry didn’t take long to get acclimated to the Chicago, gang, style of living made popular by Italian monsters in the late 20’s. By the age of 13 King Larry was running with a street gang named “The Supreme Gangsters” committing petty crimes such as theft and muggings. King Larry quickly graduated from petty crimes to shootings and assaults that resulted in him rising through the ranks in the gang. By the late 60’s and beginning of the 70’s Hoover was the leader of the Supreme gangsters and was working with another young gang leader, David Barksdale, to unify the rival gangs and create the gang known as the “Black Gangster Disciple Nation” lead by the three kings, King Larry, King Shortie, and King David.
