TODAY: Michael Tolkin, American screenwriter, director, and novelist whose career includes self-made adaptations and covers a broad scope of genres. Tolkin's first project was the novel The Player, released in 1988. The story of a Hollywood exec that kills an aspiring screenwriter, it was a success and received a film adaptation in 1992 starring Tim Robbins, which would also write and receive critical acclaim for. The film would be nominated for several Academy Awards and Golden Globes, including a screenwriting nomination for Tolkin.
