In the wake of the pandemic, women’s job satisfaction has dropped significantly, women have opted out of the workforce troublingly large numbers, and women’s optimism about their careers has declined. Fortunately, women’s leadership expert Andrea Kayne can help. Kayne, author of the forthcoming book KICKING ASS IN A CORSET, has taught women — from police officers in Chicago to educators in Beijing — how to thrive in any workplace environment. Kayne argues that the answer to the challenges women in the workplace face — from pressure to be likeable, lack of mentors and sponsors, and gender discrimination, to financial inequity, gendered career paths, and disproportionate family responsibility — is “internally referenced leadership.” That is: drawing from an internal locus of control rather than external forces.
