The Partition was a singularly traumatic experience in the subcontinent, both politically and emotionally, for people of all faiths and social standing. Unprecedented Monsoon Rains in Karachi:  Several days of monsoon rains have killed at least 90 people and damaged at least a thousand homes across Pakistan. Ali Sardar Jafri (29 November 1913 – 1 August 2000) was one of the most celebrated progressive poets, literary critic, public intellectual and editor. Recipient of Gyanpeeth Award. His revolutionary and patriotic poetry brought him into the limelight, following which, in 1940, he was also taken into custody for his political activities. He also worked as a member of the Communist party of India and participated proactively in its trade union activities. The story of Zahhak originates in the Avesta. But in the tenth century AD, the famous Iranian poet, Ferdowsi retold this story in his famous book  Shahnameh-E-Ferdowsi (Book of Kings). Many years ago, there lived an Arab ruler names Mardash who had a son with the name of Zahhak. Zahhak was a really nice person until Ahriman, the Evil Spirit, persuaded him to kill his father.After Mardash’s death, Zahhak became ruler. Ahriman once again appeared to him as a cook and made delicious meals for him. Zahhak asked Ahriman what he wants as his prize for the wonderful meals he had prepared. Ahriman just asked Zahhak to kiss his shoulders. After Ahriman kissed Zahhak’s shoulders, he disappeared. But suddenly two vicious black snakes grew from Zahhak’s shoulders.Zahhak was terrified and didn't know what to do with the snakes. Ahriman once again appeared to him as a physician. He told Zahhak that the only way to control the snakes is to feed them human brain every day otherwise the snakes would eat Zahhak himself.https:/

Amrita Pritam 31 August 1919 – 31 October 2005) was an Indian novelist, essayist and poet, who wrote in Punjabi and Hindi. She is considered the first prominent female Punjabi poet, novelist, essayist and the leading 20th-century poet of the Punjabi language, who is equally loved on both sides of the India–Pakistan border. The Shahnameh شاہنامہِ فردوسئ ('The Book of Kings') is a long epic poem written by the Persian poet Ferdowsi between c. 977 and 1010 CE and is the national epic of Greater Iran. Consisting of some 50,00 couplets. The Shahnameh is one of the world's longest epic poems. It tells mainly the mythical and to some extent the historical past of the Persian Empire from the creation of the world until the Arab conquest of Iran in the 7th century. Rabindranath Tagore (Bengali: রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর) (7 May 1861 – 7 August 1941) was a poet of India. His name is written as Rabindranath Thakur in Indian languages. He was also a philosopher and an artist. He wrote many stories, novels, poems and dramas. Author of the "profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse" of Gitanjali, he became in 1913 the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Tagore's poetic songs were viewed as spiritual and mercurial; however, his "elegant prose and magical poetry" remain largely unknown outside Bengal. He is sometimes referred to as "the Bard of Bengal".

Ashfaq Ahmad (1925-2004) A Prominent Pakistani fiction writer, famous for the story “Gadaria”.Ashfaq Ahmed  He wrote several books in Urdu. His works included novels, short stories and plays for television and radio of Pakistan. He was awarded the President's Pride of Performance and Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) awards for his services in the field of literature and broadcasting

Syed Mahmood Khundmiri born on 14th February in the year 1938 was popularly known as takhallus Talib. He was an Indian Urdu language poet, humorist, architect, artist, orator, and one of the leading Urdu poets of the 20th and 21st centuries. Mahmood concentrated on humorous poetry, and was considered among the elite of Urdu humor.
