In conversation with the new director, Dr. Hoi Cheu, the history, the importance and applicability of the Doran Planetarium to awareness is discussed.  Clearly knowing who we are and where we are in the totality of the (growing) universe can blow your mind, but also puts some things in perspective.  We are indeed a little blue planet third from our sun, and perhaps very unique (or not).  We should work harder to protect ecosystems and the plants, animals, and oceans that are all interconnected. 

Just change your ability and the way you see and access the world will be turned on its head.  Tarita talks about how she helps travelers continue to have journeys of significance.  Her advocacy is bringing about transformation of cities, towns, businesses as everyone opens their eyes to the barriers that exist... but shouldn't.

Cookbooks have a way finding a route to my kitchen.  This one was a little different because it had recipes for cooking with Cannabis.  I just had to reach out to chef and author Laurie Wolf to ask her how to do it. Not just because listeners may pledge to a "Dry February" but the topic of staying sober is being discussed openly and more frequently in 2023.  Alcohol can -and does - ruin lives and impact friends, family and society. Air passenger rights have perhaps become more of a hot topic following the surprise rapid uptick of summer 2022 travel. No doubt the Christmas triple whammy of an appetite for going anywhere, staffing shortages, and weather, put baggage issues - cancellations and more - on the front page of newspapers across North America. In airports chaos reigned over the holiday season.  Stranded passengers understood about storms, but 36 hour (as reported by Globe and Mail Dustin Cook and Oliver Moore) delays and backlogs were unfortunately common and painful.  WestJet cancelled 1,640 flights between December 22-25.  Some individuals and families using SouthWest or Sunwing experienced even longer waits mostly for repatriation. Lack of quality information and updates was cited as a primary frustration. This episode of QOL features a conversation with Gabor Lukacs, President and founder of the non-profit  Air Passenger Rights, a Canadian advocacy voice for education and awareness.
