For our Zoomer audience, the risks of eye disease increase with age. Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve. Glaucoma can occur at any age but is more common in older adults. It is one of the leading causes of blindness for people over the age of 60. Now I am joined by Dr. Nupura Bakshi who is a retina and uveitis specialist, on staff at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Kensington Eye Institute, St. Michael's Hospital, and Mount Sinai Hospital. She is also an assistant professor at the University of Toronto in the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences.
