Foundational Podcast

We live in a fallen world that is corrupt and wicked, filled with sickness and disease, and where we face setbacks and disappointments. God didn't save us to get us out of this fallen world; He saved us and then gave us the Holy Spirit so we can live in this fallen world with the joy and power of the Holy Spirit. It is into this fallen world that God wants to do His greatest work. But if the church is going to be the light that this fallen world needs, she needs to start walking in the power of a new anointing. And that is what I am sharing with you in today's podcast.

We are watching our culture go downhill and grow ever more pagan; and with that is the persecution of authentic disciples of Jesus Christ Our culture doesn't worry about the churches that seek to be more tolerant. Tolerance is a tool of the enemy to move the church away from the authentic word of God Authentic discipleship is going to become even more costly, which is why the church needs a true encounter with God. In the worst times in culture, God seems to make his visitation. In the darkest times when thing seem very bad is when God does his greatest work; but the majority miss it. In the midst of all that we're facing in our country and around the world right now, God wants to do His greatest move in this generation right now. The enemy is trying to shut it down. Two weeks ago we looked at what God did through Elijah as he confronted the pagan, sexualized culture of Israel at Mt. Carmel. Last week we talked about how we can embrace a biblical perspective of the human race and people of color and how we all have the same Father....twice. In today's podcast, we're taking that commitment a step further.

Every time there's been a great darkness come over our culture; every time culture has been presented with a tremendous culture and it seems like everything is going to ruin, Almighty God does His greatest work. But the majority of mankind miss it. We're living in such a day. We're facing a situation right now in America, and around the world, that has not been faced since the 30s and 40s. The Christian Christian is facing it as well, and this is what I want to address in today's podcast. I originally preached this sermon in my church on June 21, 2000, but believe that the message is just as appropriate today as it was7 months ago. Just as in the days of the prophets during Israel's rebellion in the Old Testament, the altars are defiled and our culture has turned pagan. The pagan culture desperately needs a church that will be willing to stand up in truth, rebuild the altar of the Lord, and call the church back to the old ways and repentance. Living the life of a disciple is an abnormal life. When you live the life of a disciple, you live a life on a completely different level than others do. Jesus said that if we ask anything in His name, he would do it that the Father be glorified. There are four things a disciple of Christ must do to see this happen. And that is what we talk about in today's podcast.

How do we live in a time of crisis? The way our nation is going right now: the sheltering in place, the lockdown. With the things we are facing around the world, it would be very easy for Christians to lose their sight of Jesus and heaven. It is easy for the fog of this stuff to settle in, and we lose sight and direction; and become disheartened and discouraged in our walk with Jesus. When the enemy can get us into that kind of a fog, he can get us misdirected. The prophet Isaiah gave us some clear warnings, and that's what we're talking about in today's podcast. The significant part of fellowship in our local churches, marriages, and even families is fellowship with the Holy Spirit. When we fellowship with Holy Spirit, we are better able to come along side those God has placed in our lives to help bear their load. By doing this, we are living from the inside out. Instead of allowing their trial or tribulation to trouble our own hearts, we are able to tap into the peace and comfort we have in the Holy Spirit and share that peace and comfort with them. That is what we're talking about in this week's podcast episode. There are two things that will make God's promises a reality in our life; so that we are living life through the power of the Holy Spirit. Living life from the inside out. So that what is in us affects people and situations around us, and not the other way around. Aren't you tired of your peace and tranquility being affected by the people and situations around you? You don't have to live that way any longer. You can live with God's perfect peace in your heart, despite the drama all around you, so that you're living from the inside out. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit and when we are living and walking by the Spirit each and every day, the same works Jesus did, we can do. He empowers us to do the works that He did. When learn to live by the power of the Holy Spirit so that He directs your life, something begins to happen. You begin to love heaven more, and year for Jesus' second coming. Sometimes we allow the stuff of life distract us, and down the road we remember the commitments we once made, and it feels like the great things that led to that commitment have faded.   I was introduced to the gospel of Jesus Christ while in high school. My life was radically changed, July 3, 1964, during a family camp in Sanders, Idaho. After coming home from that camp I would occasionally visit the home of some new friends made at the camp. Jim became a very good friend. His dad was a pastor on the north side of Spokane, Washington. Dale and his wife were the youth leaders at the church in Spokane Valley where I was attending regularly. He worked for Armor Meats in Spokane. Going to the home of these two friends was an amazing experience for me. Walking into their house was like walking into a sanctuary. There was an atmosphere very different from anything I had known. The light in the house was brighter. I heard George Beverly Shea for the first time at Jim’s house. His mom loved the music of this man who sang for Billy Graham. I heard intercessory pray for the first time while visiting Dale’s home. It was more than the music or hearing someone praying, it was a

March 1620, a Native American named Samoset came into the Plymouth colony. He told them about another Native American named Squanto. These two men became significant in the life of the Plymouth colony. They introduced the leaders of the colony to the leader of the Indians in that area, Massasoit. William Bradford, leader of the Pilgrims, described the event in this way in his journal entitled The Plymouth Settlement. Halloween has been controversial for decades and it's roots entirely in paganism. So the question is, "Should we be celebrating Halloween?"   The Pentecostal movement is at a breakpoint moment. She has never faced such a challenge in the one hundred and thirteen years of her history. It is the making of a perfect storm spiritually, with cultural pressure from without and ecclesiastical pressure from within. This hedonistic, pluralistic cultural of relativism is no longer demanding the church to be tolerant and sensitive to the new norms, but to embrace them or be labeled as intolerant, homophobic, Islamophobic, and extremist. The Equality Act of 2019 that has passed the U.S. Congress and is now in the Senate increases that pressure exponentially. At the same time this cultural pressure is reaching unimaginable proportions the Pentecostal movement has a new generation of spiritual leaders that have never experienced authentic revival and spiritual awakening, but have been educated from kindergarten through university in a post-modern system. Their entire education and training have been within a system that has rewritten history
