After spending much of her career writing songs for the likes of Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton and Sheryl Crow, Jessi wrote a flurry of songs that she simply couldn’t part with. Market Yourself: Aliza Licht of Leave Your Mark
31/03/2020 Duración: 29minAccording to Aliza Licht, she wasn’t born with the ability to command a room. Growing up, the author, founder and president of Leave Your Mark, LLC, struggled to speak anytime she was thrust into the spotlight. It wasn’t until she was in college that she felt comfortable speaking before a group of people. Working in PR for Donna Karan, it was Aliza’s Gossip Girl-inspired tactics that made the anonymous Twitter account, @dknyprgirl, one of the first popular fashion accounts on the platform. Now the president of a successful branding and digital strategy firm, Aliza is regularly booked for public speaking engagements, coaching entrepreneurs in leadership and encouraging their success. Everyday Adventures: Ruzwana Bashir of Peek
24/03/2020 Duración: 33minTaking a look at Ruzwana Bashir’s resume, you might think she was born into a lifestyle of unlimited opportunity. Educated at Oxford and Harvard Business School, she had an education on par with that of the wealthiest families in the world. However, everything that Ruzwana has accomplished is due to her own steely work ethic. When an investor passed on the chance to fund Peek, Ruzwana’s travel experience company which recently raised $40 million in capital, he told her it was because he didn’t know if she had “the grit” to make it in entrepreneurship. From then on she changed her goal from being professional to being authentic. The experiences she had growing up in an immigrant family, selling vegetables to make ends meet, working to get full scholarships to fund her education, all cultivated within Ruzwana the perseverance, grace and gratitude that has made her the successful entrepreneur she is today. Cooking is a Muscle: Getting Culinary with Mia Rigden of The Rasa Life
17/03/2020 Duración: 21minNutrition runs in Mia Rigden’s blood. According to Mia, her grandmother, a dietician born in the 1930’s, was slathering coconut oil on her meals long before it was popular. Although Mia has always considered herself an adventurous eater, in her 20’s she found herself vacillating between enjoying the perks of restaurant PR work, and restricting herself to stringent juice cleanses. Now focusing on integrative nutrition through her company, The Rasa Life, Mia works with clients to optimize their food choices in a way that works best for them. Eschewing the notion that diets need branding, Mia honors the understanding each person is unique, wellness does not necessarily equal thinness, and reminds us that we all have what it takes to be our own best chefs! The Moral and Ethical DNA of Faryl Morse
25/02/2020 Duración: 23minFaryl Morse is not your average shoe designer. First off, she’s a woman in a male-dominated industry. Secondly, her care and devotion to creatively designed, well-made shoes is only outmatched by her humanitarian efforts. This is evident not only in Faryl’s desire to make cool shoes that are accessible to all people, but also in the way she cares for her employees. Her company, Farylrobin, is the first of its kind to create a summer program so the children of factory workers in China can be closer to their parents when school is not in session. Follow Your True North: Divya Gugnani of Wander Beauty
18/02/2020 Duración: 26minSometimes it’s hard to remember that the skin is the largest organ of the body. We often take for granted this most precious part of ourselves that keeps us soft, safe, and literally holds us together! It’s also easy to forget that the skin is porous, and therefore absorbs many things from the environment, whether we realize it or not. Divya Gugnani, co-founder of Wander Beauty, had a moment of revelation rushing to work one day. She wanted beauty and skincare products that were safe for her skin, effective, and also able to multitask. The idea for Wander Beauty was formed to directly address the pain points of women who have to balance work, travel and home life, and to help them look and feel good doing it. Thanks for listening! Scrappiness is a Virtue: Jenny Fleiss Co-founder of Rent the Runway
11/02/2020 Duración: 25minJenny Fleiss has been an entrepreneur since she was a child. Where most kids are content to simply sell lemonade by the cup, she spent her summer days figuring out how to bundle products, the best form of signage, and what location would generate the highest number of sales. That spirit stayed with her as she grew older, always finding creative ways to solve a problem, like the time she duct taped her heel on the fly. Co-founding both Rent the Runway and Jet Black, Jenny has only picked up steam since her lemonade days. Ever the entrepreneurial mind, she is constantly excited by ways of growing and adapting her businesses to the ever-changing needs of her audience. But that doesn’t mean that business solutions have to be complicated. According to Jenny, one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself is learning how to work creatively with what you have. Cuup Queen: Abby Morgan on Support, Vulnerability, and the Definition of “Sexy”
04/02/2020 Duración: 26minEpisode Description Searching for a perfect bra, one that’s comfortable, fits well, and is just the right amount of sexy (as defined by the wearer, of course!), sometimes feels akin to a lifelong quest for the holy grail. We explore shopping malls, hunt through boutiques, even forage the forests of online lingerie stores. Sometimes it pays off. Sometimes you go home in the same tired underwire, a box of wheat thins and reruns of Vanderpump Rules as your consolation prize. Abby Morgan wanted to create a product that made bra shopping a success every time. Along with her three co-founders she created Cuup, a bra company that prides itself not only on its range of sizes (30A-38H), but also on the value of community, creating a safe space for women to share their experiences and work for change in the world. Cuup works to support women’s bodies, but more importantly, they work to support the femme experience. Thanks for listening! We love our listeners! Drop us a line or give us guest suggestions here

Beautiful Hustle: Ariane Goldman of Hatch
28/01/2020 Duración: 29minWhat’s the coolest maternity brand? Does that seem like a strange question? It shouldn’t. In a global society that’s more fashion conscious than ever, it doesn’t make sense that maternity designs are so resistant to helping women feel relevant during one of the biggest times in their lives. As a pregnant woman with time on her hands and money to spend, Ariane Goldman experienced this firsthand. She couldn’t find anything she liked enough to buy. Ariane had encountered a similar problem several years earlier when she couldn’t find any suitable options for bridesmaid dresses, so she decided to create her own. A creative at heart and now a mother-to-be, Ariane paved her own way, creating fantastic maternity designs and launching Hatch. While business might have been slow at first, a New York Times article and a sighting on a certain Meghan Markle have secured Hatch as the maternity line for fashionable moms everywhere. Groove is in the Heart: Susan Feldman Takes on Ageism in Fashion & Beauty
14/01/2020 Duración: 31minEveryone can identify with the feeling of being invisible sometimes, but for a whole generation, that feeling may be more a matter of endurance. Unfortunately most cultures don’t value older populations as they once did, and western society is especially guilty of that. Susan Feldman was saddened when she saw a friend’s Instagram post joking about being invisible after age 50, and she decided to do something about it. Having taken two years off after launching, building and selling One Kings Lane, Susan launched a very different venture, In the Groove, a website largely focused on beauty where women of all ages can see a reflection of themselves. Filled with fashion tips, health and lifestyle information, and even a menopause registry (!), In the Groove proves that looking good is always in style. Thanks for listening! We love our listeners! Chasing Match Point: Maria Sharapova Talks Tennis Courts and Candy
07/01/2020 Duración: 30minMaria Sharapova was born in Siberia, raised in Sochi and then, at age 6, moved to the U.S., and she hasn’t really stopped moving since. The tennis sensation who won Wimbledon at 17 and 5 Grand Slam titles in the years since has honed a level of focus so intense that at times she seems more like a Buddhist monk than a star athlete. This stoic concentration has been cultivated intentionally; Maria saw in other tennis players that letting fear or, conversely, pride, lead them on the court more often ended in disappointment rather than a win. She resolved to always look towards the next point, and act as graciously in victory as in losses. It’s a state of being that has bled into other areas of her life, including her work as an entrepreneur. Maria launched Sugarpova, the candy company of which is still 100% owner, in her early 20’s. Though it may seem incongruous for an athlete to peddle treats, as Maria puts it, it’s important to balance hard work something sweet once in a while. Thanks for listening! We love o

Beauty, Bowls and Branding with Kathryn Duryea of Year and Day
17/12/2019 Duración: 27minWhat’s the 7 billion dollar industry that’s perched on your shelves, resting on your table, even held in your hands multiple times a day? It’s not your phone. It’s not even digital. It’s – wait for it – your dishes! That’s right, the tools we use to deliver food to our hungry bodies everyday is a goldmine, and an industry that hasn’t seen many changes in operations in the last several decades. Enter Kathryn Duryea, whose personal journey to create a nice table for herself resulted in frustration. When she did find designs she liked, the prices were far too high. Not everyone has thousands of dollars to put towards plates and forks. Years spent on the brand management team for Tiffany, coupled with her mother’s love of dishware, gave Kathryn the skills, passion and inspiration to start her own brand. Now just two years old, Year and Day has already been critically acclaimed by the likes of Vogue and GQ. According to Kathryn, when it comes to creating a beautiful table for friends and family, “We shouldn’t have
