Cultivating Awareness - Ray Carbullido - Episode 53
20/09/2019 Duración: 01h11minHey there and welcome to this week's episode of the weMove podcast. This week's podcast is for those who are looking for or working towards improving themselves, their movement practice, their health practice, in fact any practice. And it follows on from the last two podcasts with Gary Ward and Severin Romanov. It's about awareness, and in that I mean cultivating awareness and within the cultivation of our awareness, a return to the fundamentals and to the principles of the very thing we are trying to improve. We recorded this episode back in March of this year and it's curious, to me at least how we have these conversations and how unknowingly at the time how relevant they are to us come the time we release them, because they are not recorded at the time only knowing they are a piece of the puzzle. And this is the next piece of the puzzle and our guest is Ray Carbullido the martial artist and visual artist from Hawaii Whilst his practices might not be your practice, for Ray it's the

Enjoy Being Who You Are - Severin Romanov - Episode 52
15/09/2019 Duración: 01h40minHey there and welcome to another episode of the we move podcast. This week we are sharing a conversation with Severin Romanov about recognising where you are and the importance of having a clear understanding of that position in order to grow and become.Severin is the son of Dr Romanov, the founder of POSE METHOD, most commonly known within running circles and a style which our good friend @thenaturallifestylist Tony Riddle mentioned in our first podcast with him.I caught up with Severin in London as he was passing through only really knowing that his Dad, Dr R had discovered POSE METHOD. I took a lot from the conversation because it's more about understanding who you are and where you are send finding a magic bullet to increase your performance. As Severin outlines, knowing who you are and knowing where you are gives a much clearer idea for yourself in working out how to get where you'd like to go and in actual fact you are you and you're exactly where you need to be and if you have presence of

Straight Edge Punk and Yoga - Eddie Stern - Episode 51
09/09/2019 Duración: 55minHey there and welcome to another episode of the weMove podcast. This week we caught up with Eddie Stern one of the original Ashtangi crew who ventured over to Mysore in India to learn the practice of Ashtanga yoga back in the late 80’s early 90’s.Something that has really interested Chris and I in the weMove journey is getting to talk to the people who have been at the start of movements, what they were looking for and what they have to share. And Eddie definitely feels like one of those for us to glean some knowledge from and connect with others who we are meeting.Growing up in New York, when New York was a very different place to what it is today working in record stores, playing in bands Eddie discovered yoga in a quest for the feeling of more we feel about being Human. That led him to the small and diverse New York yoga scene of the early 80s when there was no Instagram and social media, but there was definitely a passion, desire and curiosity in our potential and consciousness. This quest led Eddie to vent

Returning to Centre - Gary Ward - Episode 50
02/09/2019 Duración: 01h25minHey there and welcome to another episode of the weMove podcast.Today we feature Gary Ward who was on our radar in Issue 1 of the magazine when we featured his book “What the foot” as an essential book to read for movement performance and health.Fast forward 3 or 4 years and we're speaking to him person having been connected by our growing network of like minds.Gary Ward is kind of a secret weapon in injury prevention, performance development and all around bodily health because Gary is interested in awareness and alignment. Awareness not only in the present sense but also awareness of our past.Because tuning in to the events of our past can shine a light on how it has informed our present way of moving, living and being and with this awareness we have the potential to improve our alignment of our body and I think it goes much deeper and I believe it helps a line our body and mind and our spirit in order to to reach your potential.Gary's credentials are working with some of the best football teams in

We may think we're alone, but we are not - Episode 49
26/08/2019 Duración: 44minNew podcast this week and it's different from our usual releases yet follows on from the brilliant 3 podcasts @tiffanysoi hosted for weMove that talked about mental resilience in a variety of forms. What we are beginning to realize is that weMove started life as an exploration into our potential and is in part autobiographical for Chris and me. The connections that we share are from teachers we have been drawn to, inspired by and curious to learn from. The magazine, podcast, films and C.H.E. are our vehicles to spend time with, learn from and connect to our weMove community who share a similar curiosity for our innate potential and possibility. We turn up with open hearts and minds ready to receive wisdom from their experiences. What that means for us is that we turn up as students and explorers of our Self, prepared to deep-dive in doing the work for our own growth. We have come to realise from observation and personal experience that growth can be extremely painful and there is an absolute necessity dur

Ashtanga Yoga. A Gateway to Awareness - Santina Giardina Chard. Episode 48.
18/06/2019 Duración: 01h15minHi there and welcome to the weMove podcast. I’m befuddled to know where to start with this intro. I discovered Santina Giardina Chard on instagram searching for instagram inspiration for my Astanga practice. I’ve done a variety of sports and movement things up until now and often I would get to a fairly proficient level and then move on. I did it with my main love, climbing when I was getting to that point where I could get much better. And this has been a pattern for me in many things through my life. Astanga yoga was a little bit different, my sister suggested I give it a go, being a fairly good judge of my character and so alongside Crossfit and dabbling with climbing I gave it a go. Now Astanga has been and still does get a bad rep, and I should say as pretty much all sports and practices do. But that is not where I am coming at it from. Nor am I coming at it from the heavily entrenched dogma that comes with any practice that makes practitioners feel better and give them a salvation. I used to be on of th

Do You Know How to Sleep - Nick Littlehales - Episode 47
09/06/2019 Duración: 01h24minHi there and welcome to the weMove podcast. This podcast we talk about something that makes us feel good, we as a society struggle to get enough and it is perhaps the most ignored and forgotten point in our day where we process, recover and regenerate our bodies and minds. I’m talking about sleep.Chris and I caught up with the professional athletes go to sleep coach who are looking for the marginal gains which separate them from the rest, he is called Nick Littlehales and is ideas and concepts have been used by the GB cycling team, Man City football club and many others that we are not able to divulge. Having recently become a parent, the first question I am asked in jest is “are you sleeping?” Well since applying the simple ideas Nick outlines, we as a family have improved our sleep no end. We now understand our sleep cycle and rhythm so that we all, yes that’s all sleep through. I should say subject to teething but that’s not sleep. It blew me away how and is so obvious that understanding and following the r

Thoughts on taking the call to adventure and Jamie Ramsay Podcast
02/06/2019 Duración: 17minIn our culture, we often live vicariously through others who are living their own adventure safe in our comfortable bubble working 9 to 5 “buying things we don’t need with money we don’t have to impress people we don’t like”. The Hero’s journey theorised by Joseph Campbell begins with the “Call to adventure.” A calling within ourselves that there is something more to give. They come regularly and we can go one of two ways: Refuse the call, get back to work and stop fantasising about our dreams. Or we can take the call and make the leap into the unknown. The latter correlates with our own journeys and also the podcast with Jamie Ramsay. “Successfully” working in the City, he knew there was something more to give and he did what many choose not to. He resigned and followed a curiosity within himself. That has led him around the world by foot and wheels challenging himself to physical adventures but also the mental adventures that come with following your heart. If you have an inkling there is more you can do th

Thoughts on Applying for the Complete Human Experience with Damian Fearns
02/06/2019 Duración: 14minWhy have we got an assessment application to attend C.H.E.? That is a question we have been asked. The C.H.E. is a fast track to developing potential and as the proverb goes “If you want to go fast; go alone. But if you want to go far, then go together.”To go both far and fast requires a blend, as an individual you have to be ready and as a group the dynamic must be just so that everyone connects and combines supporting each other through the journey. What do you need to have to both go far and fast? Well this is not like picking teams at school where those picked last weren’t good at the game. Because the game of being a complete human requires a mindset that is ready to learn and develop, that is curious about there being more in the metaphorical tank. And that is why we called on experts to co create the C.H.E. with us, and one of those experts is Damian Fearns (coach, trainer and therapist) who works with some of the worlds largest organisations and individuals to support them in realising their potential a

Movement, our Environment and our Mental Health - Damain Fearns - Episode 46
30/05/2019 Duración: 01h22minHey there and welcome to the weMove podcast. Why do we do this stuff, what is it about us humans that want to see what’s beyond the mountains or obstacles in front of us, how do we get meaning from doing what we do and why are emotions so important to the whole performance, growth and progression of our lives? All of these are questions we asked ourselves and are themes that emerge from conversations we have with our guests. When we meet characters who have achieved great things or are operating in the zone of their potential, there is something that feels very connected within them. Like the dots have lined up and they are able to navigate scenarios be they in sport, business or life with a seeming ease. Now this isn’t to say it is easy for them but they are comfortable in situations that others might not be. Not reckless or dangerous, just able to be present, connected and whole. Like they have integrated practice and theory to the point where in the moment they can create more time to perform. And it is the
