We've forgotten how to make a podcast less than an hour long now. Wow, so this weekend Sandra and Claire attended the Chicago Local 134 fauxpening weekend tailgate, crushed a few Revolution brews, and called their friends Katelyn (@BestKabest) and Tyler (@tdn_) of Portland's Rose City Review and Red Smoke Radio — to talk through a game that was actually played: Chicago v Portland on April 20th of 2019. Only now in the light of the present can one enjoy the absolute madness of the past. It's not new soccer, but we hope you guys enjoy.

Friends! Homies! Colleagues! Happy addended opening weekend to the 2020 NWSL season. It's not quite what we hoped for, but we here at Southside Trap decided not to let self-isolation keep us from one of the things a virus can't stop: making Red Stars content for you. In today's episode, we talked to Emily Boyd (@eboydsfood) and Zoey Goralski (@zoeygoralski) (with a brief interview crashing from Bianca St. Georges @bianacastgeorges) about what they were doing this time last year (playing soccer), how the arc of their year has been altered, but also mostly about quarantine fits and posting and content and Michael Jordan. This got slightly out of hand. Welcome to part one of Days of Red Stars Past: Beginnings. This part features a brief roundup on where the league is at in Covid-19 response, how we're holding up and what the Red Stars have been doing (spoiler it's content). We also set the stage for the beginning of the NWSL, and break down the circumstances that led to Chicago playing their first game against the Seattle Reign in April of 2013. It's a trip. We'll have Part Two ready to go for you guys in a couple days, where we discussed Chicago's first win, and the debuts of Julie (Johnston) Ertz and Vanessa DiBernardo.

Our first uploaded episode to Anchor, how exciting!  Never has a podcast episode been in such danger of obsolescence so quickly. But we still want to share it with you! Yes, the covid-19 pandemic is altering everything right now, but more importantly there are new good Red Stars back in preseason camp, and the NWSL is going to be on TV this year (eventually). These are good things, and we need good things right now. We're going to figure this out together, y'all.
