Our regular visit from my Vermont home at The Waybury Inn in Middlebury with Chef/Innkeeper Antonio Petri. The holidays are closing in fast and so are the parties, the dinners, the gift card shopping and fa-la-la! Then we do some good by hanging out with the good. Lisa Raiola does more good for more food makers than just about anyone in Rhode Island with her Hope and Main launch platform facility - the talk of the industry. We caught up with Lisa on Giving Tuesday.

We're jumping into the season with two great food personalitites from all over New England. Chef Antonio Petri one of the innkeepers of the Waybury Inn in Middlebury Vermont brings us through his kitchen and dining room for Thanksgiving and beyond. Then its off to the first Christmas party of the season in Providence RI with Harrison Elkhay, President of Chow Fun Food Group - Harry's, Ten Prime and more.

Everyone knows Butterball at this time of year - Butterball Turkey. Every year we chat with the Butterball Turkey Talk Line experts and get their advice and horror stories! We've never asked the Ladies about wine pairing with turkey. That's Bob Burke's department. Mon ami, the longtime proprietor of Pot au Feu in Providence RI each year keeps the tradition of the new Beaujolais wine release from the French vineyards. It's a light red wine that pairs perfectly with Thanksgiving dinner. There's French law involved and more but its a lot of fun. Listen to both stories right here. Allons!

How to get Newport diners to visit a Providence restaurant ? Move it to Newport! A highly-anticipated new food hall in Providence is having a sneak peek in Newport in early December. Track 15 will host a preview event on December 4 at Giusto in Newport, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center. Here's a preview with Chris Marsella, CEO, Marsella Development Group and Alyson Novick, Director of Development, MLK Center.

Dr. Michaelangelo La Luna of the University of Rhode Island hosted special guests for an invitation-only home-cooked Calabrian dinner during Italian Heritage Month. While not a trained chef, he loves cooking and sharing meals with other people, something that he got from his family in Calabria where he grew up. He will make you run out for a multi-course pasta dinner like a "Big Night!" Enjoy. And a thousand thanks!

Something different for Halloween. The War of the Worlds radio play adapted by Providence Rhode Island radio in 1974 from an adaptation by Buffalo NY radio in 1971 and 1968 and at some point adapted from the Orson Welles play by Howard Koch back in 1938. Got all that? This one is rare indeed. You'll hear the title intoned reassuringly by one of the great reassuring voices who the kids all loved on snow days. Barkeaters Restaurant in Shelburne, Vermont has become one of the great dining destinations. David and Julie Zeidler have settled in as proprietors over the past year. One of the more popular touches they have added is Theme Weeks with an exciting new menu each week. David and I talked about two recent big weeks that have guests and friends looking forward to see what the next theme will be!

Welcome to the second Providence(RI) Restaurant Renaissance. A new food hall to be called Track 15 will open in 2025. Bruce talks to chef proprietors Sanjiv Dhar of Little Chaska and Alp Gumuscu who has a new concept called Tolia, and Chris Marsella, CEO of Marsella Development Corporation.

Big news from the Waybury Inn in Middlebury, Vermont. The Inn has been busy with fans of the 1980's hit sitcom, "Newhart," wanting an inside look at the exterior setting for the beloved comedy and to remember the late Bob Newhart. This fall, those memories will come alive with the first "Newhart Weekend" which Chef Antonio Petri reveals in our chat from the Waybury's living room. There is more in store including some creations from the Chefs that will make it an unforgettable Fall.
