In 1 Timothy 2:1-3, Paul reveals the attitude believers should have toward those who rule over us. Even if we didn’t vote for them, even if we don’t agree with them, we should pray for them and give thanks for them. Our attitude toward our government and those in authority should be based on what God’s Word teaches. It teaches that those who resist authority resist the ordinance of God, which is an authoritative order or decree.

Having a bad attitude is like having a flat tire. If we don’t fix it, we won’t get very far. Jonah’s bad attitude got him into the belly of a fish. The Israelites bad attitudes kept them out of the land of promise. These, and other Old Testament examples were written to teach us.

Our attitude is our inward disposition toward people or circumstances. If we desire to succeed in life, our attitude must constantly be changing for the better.

Our attitude can make or break us, hurt or help us. If we desire success, our attitude must be changing for the better. Is the glass half full or half empty? We must have a victorious attitude like Paul, who was rooted in God’s promises and the finished work of Christ in redemption.

It’s been said that attitude determines the altitude we climb to in life. Our attitude can make or break us, help or hurt us, cause failure or success. A bad attitude can destroy marriages, children’s lives, careers, churches, relationships and hinder our walk with God. No wonder Paul said our attitude should always be changing for the better.

A disciple is a disciplined student or one who studies the life and teachings of His master in order to emulate his life. Since Jesus is no longer with us in the flesh, the way we study His life and teachings is by studying the Bible. Receive an understanding of how to study God’s Word.

I was first introduced to Jesus the Healer while working at the YOungstown Sheet and Tube Company. I knew about His virgin birth, and His dying on the cross, but I knew nothing about how He healed everyone who came to Him no matter what their condition was. As I read through the Gospel, I was convinced that Jesus detested disease, and was passionate about removing it from peoples' lives.

A wholesome dread of displeasing God involves both reverence for His holiness and goodness, as well as understanding the reality of judgment and hell. The Word gives us a very vivid depiction of hell and though the grace of God equips us to avoid it entirely, we cannot ignore the truth of its terror.

The temple was finished, Solomon prays a dedicatory prayer, the fire of God falls, the glory fills the temple, and the people bow in worship before God. After eight days, the Lord appears to Solomon and reveals what promotes or prevents His presence and blessings among them. Disobedience and rebellion prevent revival, while repentance and obedience promote revival. These verses speak to Israel, but they also speak to every generation of God’s people. “If my people.”

Faith, hope and love are three powerful forces that play a vital role in every believer’s life. Love is the greatest because it will continue after faith and hope have fulfilled their purpose. Faith deals with the past and present, hope deals with the future, and love is eternal. W.E. Vines Expository Dictionary of New Testament words defines fear as being a controlling motive of a life in matters spiritual and moral; to possess a wholesome dread of displeasing God. The one who fears God will hate sin, depart from evil, delight in God’s commandments. Our goal as Christians is to perfect holiness in the fear of God.

Paul and Barnabas preached the gospel at Lystra. What they preached produced faith in the heart of a cripple from birth. What message did they preach? If the man had faith to be healed, why was he not healed? We may want a loaf of bread. We may have money in our pocket to buy it. Why don’t we have it? Our money must be released in order to receive the bread. Jesus taught that faith is released with words.

The Corinthians were highly critical of Paul. They criticized his age, writing style, speech, bodily appearance, even his apostleship. Paul responded by writing them two letters admonishing them to examine their own lives instead of criticizing others. In the first, he emphasizes performing a solemn self – examination before observing communion, 1 COR. 11:27-31. In the second, he emphasizes the need to scrutinize themselves to determine their spiritual status.
