Overwatch League Recap

The OWL Recap is back! After a week break, we are back in full force ready to soak in the playoffs! In this episode, we discuss the teams that didn't quite make it to the last stage of the season, their MVP's and what went wrong for them during the season. Stay tuned as this week the games are starting again as we gear for the final conclusion in NY!

The inaugural season of the Overwatch League is over! This week we decompress and talk about the upcoming playoff format. We look at the prizes, dates matches will take place, the order in which maps will be played and how tie breakers will work. Now that Mel and BlazzinBob's teams, Dallas Fuel and Houston Outlaws, are out they pick new teams to root for in the playoffs. Lastly iplaigames plays it safe as always and picks multiple teams to root for!

Stage 4 has concluded and LA Valiant has taken home the title and money! The green and gold team is looking the best they ever had and has brought us some of the most enjoyable Overwatch to watch! Their fierce rivalry with the Gladiators and their dominance over NYXL is something to behold! That being said, an equally encouraging story was told at the end of this stage. Dallas Fuel has re-emerged from their ashes much like a phoenix! They showed the league that even through their tough times, their competitive spirit has not been broken and their blue flame is as bright as it has been in the past! 

We are almost at the end of the first Overwatch League season with only one week left of games! Both LA teams seem to be at their best, being able to beat NY Excelsior through the past weeks, which raises the question: is NY sandbagging? The red and blue team seem unwilling to change their strategy but, are they trying to hide their true colors? Or is this really the extent of their power? Catch it all here with us!

LA Valiant has taken over the spotlight this week, not only winning the battle for LA against the Gladiators, but also defeating the undisputed top dogs NYXL! Join us this week to talk all about this incredible turn of events and catch up on the last few days of the league's stage matches! 

Week 2 starts with a surprising turn of events as Dallas Fuel takes a win from Uprising and Fusion. To everyone's surprise, Dallas seems to have figured out the new metagame faster than most other teams, and seem reinvigorated under their new management. Stage 4 has begun with one of the biggest shake-ups in the Overwatch League meta! Brigitte has forced a lot of the teams to adapt on the spot and bring out compositions that they are not traditionally known for. Stage 4 is right around the corner and the anticipation ensues! It has now officially been announced we will be watching the stage without the Hanzo rework, but Briggite will be in! Stage 3 has concluded and NYXL gets crowned once again as the top team in the league! With a convincing lead over Uprising, it is clear who are the top dogs in the dive meta. Regardless, we had the chance to sit down with many of the players from the league and asked their opinions on the current state of the game, and how Brigitte will impact stage 4. As Stage 3 unravels we have our first two finalists, Boston Uprising and NYXL. Both teams have secured their place in the stage 3 finals with solid records, and now the third and fourth spots are up for grabs. Valiant and Gladiators seem to be looking the best, but Outlaws, Spitfire, Dynasty, and Fusion can still make it in! Who will come to face the Boston and NY Giants? We'll find out this week!

As Stage 3 develops we see a very different landscape at the top of the leaderboards. For the first time, Uprising seems to be dominating the competition with an impeccable record, even after going up against the feared NYXL. Valiant, NYXL and SF Shock follow closely, but can they hold on to their spots? Gladiators, Fuel, and Dynasty still have their eye on the prize! Catch it all here with us. 

With a crazy week of not only news but also results, we are starting to see new faces move up the leaderboards! LA Valiant continues to dominate with an undefeated record, closely followed by (and against all odds) Boston Uprising! Fusion and Outlaws are having a power struggle as they both are tied in their overall results. Dynasty seems to be coming back to life as they remain undefeated on stage two, while Spitfire and NYXL are looking as strong as ever! Week one of Stage two concludes with some incredible matches that are starting to set the tone of whats to come. On the last two days, we got to see a rematch of our Stage 1 finals, Spitfire vs Excelsior, where the team from London solidifies themselves as the top dog! Philly Fusion continues to trample their opponents with their new acquisition EQO, and Uprising falls under the coordinated strategies from the Outlaws. Catch it all here with us!
