Suffering is in general part of the human condition and as followers of Jesus it can come at us from many different outlets—consequences, persecution, attacks from the enemy and even testing from God.

Peter is giving survival instructions to those who make up the Church. He is basically instructing us not to be overcome by the dark days and circumstances in which we live but to stay focused on what we have been called to do.

Peter says a lot about time and gives us wisdom on using our time. If we really believe in eternity and if we really believe what we read in God’s Word, we will make the best use of our time. (Psalm 90:12)

Right in the middle of Peter’s letter he addresses the important issue of marriage. It is interesting to note that most all ancient writings do not address how husbands and wives are to interact nor what the relationship should look like. Yet God esteems marriage as the highest of all human relationships. In this letter Peter addresses the wives (3:1-6) and then the husbands (3:7).

When we place our faith in Jesus Christ there are certain privileges that come with our new reality.

These days are filled with negativity, distrust, and hurt. But God’s Word tells us we can live beyond these realities by living the realities of His instruction.

Peter, the author of 1st Peter, is one of the most complex characters in the Bible. He is a great example of what it means to “survive and thrive” in Christ.

We all have blind spots, character flaws, or certain “Respectable Sins” that seem to go unnoticed in our lives. We can become so Preoccupied with the “major” sins of society that we lose sight of the need to deal with our Own sin.

Can anyone, regardless of their past accept Christ as their Lord and Savior and experience a changed life through the power of the Holy Spirit? The answer is “yes”. In fact, some of the worst sinners turn out to be some of the most passionate saints. One of the greatest transformations in the entire Bible is seen in the life of the apostle Paul.

The Biblical account of Peter’s restoration gives the reader one of the clearest pictures of a transformed life.

The challenge for most people is to move from a system of religion and rituals into a relationship with God who loves them.

The time between Jesus first appearance after His resurrection and His ascension (His return to Heaven) is forty days. During this forty-day period He appears to many with messages of hope and instruction.
