Today I sat down with Amanda Gerardo and Luis Briseno co-creators and co-owners of IV Synergy Sports. Amanda and Luis are both Calexico High alumni and were both athletes who went on to play at the collegiate level. They were later inspired to come back and to their home town and help out the valley's student athletes work on their skills and their grades. Today I had the please of visiting the Imperial Valley LGBTQ Resource center and I met up with Brianna Jaime-Bruner, who is a volunteer and facilitator at the resource center.  Brianna is in charge of one of the Mental Illness Support Groups and Brianna brings something special to the groups she manages, she also suffers from a mental illness and she can relate and feel relatable to people who suffer from mental illness that sometimes feel people don't understand what they're going through.  The Imperial Valley LGBTQ Center is open to everyone and they offer all kinds of services group counseling, one on one counseling, free HIV testing and just a place to hang out and meet some real friendly people!!
