This week on The Cine-Files we honor one of the most important composers and artists of the last century, Stephen Sondheim, by revisiting a conversation on the musical that brought him international attention, West Side Story for which he did the lyrics. John and Steve just finished a livestream on two of Steve's favorite Kung Fu films, Jackie Chan's Drunken Master and Drunken Master 2 (Or Legend of the Drunken Master in the US) Drunken Master is the film that made Jackie Chan a star and for pure athleticism, inventiveness and number of fight scenes it simply can't be beat.  When Jackie Chan returned to the role of Wong Few-Hung 15 years later he might have lost a step in terms of physicality (all evidence to the contrary) but he has definitely gained in experience, resources and time. One can argue that there is no more influential period in cinema than the French New Wave. Without it there is no cinematic revolution in the seventies. No Scorsese, Bogdanavich or Hal Ashby.
