278 Revisiting our Favorite 1980's Comedies Live!
16/05/2022 Duración: 01h35minThis week on The Cine-Files John and Steve went live to reminisce about their favorite comedies from the eighties and both of them were shocked by just how many there were. With 40 or 50 comedies every year, the 1980's were truly a golden age for cinema silliness and the guys had an absolute blast talking about them. Of course, you can listen here but if you prefer to watch the video our YouTube page is just a click away. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4xr2YXsHLQ Don’t forget to support The Cine-Files at https://www.patreon.com/TheCineFiles and purchase any film we feature at https://www.cine-files.net Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheCineFilesPod/?ref=bookmarks John @therochasays Steve @srmorris The Cine-Files Twitter @cine_files Instagram thecinefilespodcast --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thecine-files/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thecine-files/supportAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy &

Shorts Compilation #6
07/05/2022 Duración: 01h52minThere isn’t really anything John and Steve love more than taking a deep dive into a great film but some of their favorite conversations are the ones recorded each week for the supporters on Patreon. They are called Cine-Files Shorts and the topics are suggested by patrons, inspired by world events or, sometimes, it’s just stuff John and Steve want to get off their chests. We thought it would be fun to share some of our favorite conversations from the last year of Shorts So over the next two hours you will hear discussions of Toxic Fandom. They'll try to define exactly what is a western and explore how intelligence is portrayed in film, and the career of the great Nicholas Cage. With crowds finally returning to movie theaters John and Steve thought it would be a good time to review proper movie theater etiquette and finally one of our favorite patrons commented on how often the words “but I digress" come up on the regular show and he was curious about favorite off topic conversations and digressions

277 Malcolm X Part 4
06/05/2022 Duración: 02h03minIt honestly seems like months ago that we began our deep dive into the life and films of Spike Lee (which, come to think of it it is) but we have finally reached the conclusion with part 4 of our exploration of Malcolm X. In the final months of his life, Malcolm changes in profound and fundamental ways and none of those changes are greater than the ones that occur on his pilgrimage to Mecca. Of course, we couldn't discuss this incredible film without the help of Actor, Director and producer Andre Gordon. 276 Malcolm X Part 3
22/04/2022 Duración: 02h20minThere have been a few conversations in the history of The Cine-Files that have truly transcended the film. Part 3 of their exploration of the Spike Lee epic, Malcolm X, is just such a conversation. John, Steve and special guest, Andre Gordon, have a truly honest, personal and insightful conversation about one of the most difficult topics in America, race. This is the power of great films and Malcolm X certainly qualifies. 273 Malcolm X Part 1
14/04/2022 Duración: 01h26minOne can only imagine the tremendous pressure felt by 34 year old director Spike Lee when he took on the monumental task of telling the story of Malcolm X. Admired by some, hated by others but always inspiring passion, Malcolm X is one of the most important and controversial figures of the 20th Century. Joining us to discuss this incredible movie is writer, producer, director and actor Andre Gordon. 274 West Side Story Then and Now Live!
12/04/2022 Duración: 01h28minLast fall, Steve and John welcomed David Cornue and Milena Govich back to the show to honor the great Stephen Sondheim and re-release their original conversation bout West Side Story. Naturally, they had to discuss Steven Spielberg's remake which hadn't yet come out. They all agreed to reconvene to compare the two films. Well, it took a little while but yesterday all four of them appeared live on YouTube and the conversation they had was definitely worth the wait. The Outlaw Nation Reviews: Licorice Pizza
09/04/2022 Duración: 30minSteve and John both love the work of Paul Thomas Anderson. They have glowingly reviewed three of his films on The Cine-Files and in each one they expressed how much they admired his artistry, daring and unique vision but that didn't stop both of them from truly disliking his latest film Licorice Pizza. Obviously, this movie has many admirers which is great but if you truly loved this film you might want to skip this review because Steve and John aren't mincing words. The Outlaw Nation Reviews: Nightmare Alley
09/04/2022 Duración: 19minGuillermo del Toro's Nightmare Alley was probably the most surprising Best Picture Nomination for John and Steve. It's not that they expected to dislike the movie but neither of them thought they would be as taken with it as they were. With incredible performances, a compelling story and Del Toro's unique ability to create a fully realized world, Nightmare Alley is a fantastic Noir Thriller that is well worth your time. The Outlaw Nation Reviews: West Side Story
09/04/2022 Duración: 32minSteven Spielberg's remake of one of the greatest musicals of all time didn't do well at the Box Office or at the Oscars, however, that doesn't stop both John and Steve from believing that this was, without question, the best film of the year. This is truly a master filmmaker at work and to say they have a lot to say about this movie, the performances, cinematography and directorial choices is an understatement. The Outlaw Nation Reviews: The Power of the Dog
09/04/2022 Duración: 30minJane Campion's The Power of the Dog was very much the front runner for best picture this year and while it didn't win, the powerful choices, technical mastery and haunting story of this incredible film are undeniable. Where Steve and John disagree on this one is whether or not they actually liked the movie. You'll have to listen (or watch) to find out who feels what. The Outlaw Nation Reviews: Don't Look Up
08/04/2022 Duración: 22minThis really has been an incredible year for films but there is one movie nominated for best picture that neither John or Steve likes and that is Don't Look Up. It's not that the people behind it aren't talented. Far from it. It's not that the actors don't deliver fantastic performances. They do. It's simply that the obvious political goals of the film seem to overshadow the story itself which begins to drift halfway through and never fully recovers. Of course, if you want to watch John and Steve as well as listen you can see the video right here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLCYLnFdWb8&t=11s Don't forget to like and subscribe. The Outlaw Nation Reviews: King Richard
08/04/2022 Duración: 26minJohn and Steve reviewed King Richard several days before The Oscars but what happened there doesn't change the fact that Will Smith delivered an absolutely stunning performance as Richard Williams. While it's not a perfect film, King Richard is certainly powerful, with incredible performances based on the stratospheric achievements of the Williams family. George Stevens Jr. Complete Interview
02/04/2022 Duración: 54minA few months ago, during our exploration of the film Shane, we had the great pleasure of welcoming to our microphones the son of its director, George Stevens Jr. If you listened to the episode you heard what it was like to be on the set of that classic western. But George Stevens Jr. is far more than the son of a famous director. In addition to being an award winning director and producer in his own right, George Stevens Jr. is the founder of the American Film Institute, and creator and long time producer of the Kennedy center honors. We discuss all that and more in this previously unreleased interview. 31/03/2022 Duración: 26minJapanese director, Ryusuke Hamaguchi powerful exploration of love, loss, creativity and guilt is without question, beautifully made, filmed, edited and acted but while John loved it the editor and Steve would have cut it down significantly.
