But a tumultuous production left the project incomplete and abandoned until 2015. That year, David O. Russell was coming off of three consecutive best picture nominations, Jake Gyllenhaal's profile had risen even higher and a plunderous group of producers saw an opportunity to strike while the iron was hot. Thus, a shoddy cut of the film was cobbled together; and where Nailed once stood, Accidental Love rose from the ashes.
